In early February I was contacted by Activia UK to see if I would be interested in trying out a special Feel Good Tip as part of their Feel Good Pledge After trying the tip out I was invited to meet Gok Wan to talk about it!
Activia conducted research (Nov, 2012) which showed that on average, women spend only 30 minutes or 3% of their time looking after themselves. The Feel Good Pledge is all about reminding us women to do things that make us feel good inside and out. They have partnered with the wonderful Gok Wan to give us some tips and help us on our way!
I received a lovely letter from Gok suggesting a great Feel Good Tip to try out. My tip was all about breaking down large goals into more achievable mini goals. Considering all of the things I have going on in my life right now, that tip could not have been better!
I thought that was a really excellent tip, because it can be used in so many different scenarios. I know that when I was losing weight the thought of trying to lose 4 stone was quite scary, but when I broke that down into 7lb increments it really felt more achievable. It also meant that I had little ‘mini wins’ along the way. I used the tip when thinking about my business development and my nutrition studies. Instead of thinking about the big giant goals I have in mind, I started to break them down into mini goals – the little things I would need to achieve to take me closer to that big goal. Things don’t feel quite so scary now, I just know that I need to take things a little at a time, and celebrate each and every one of those mini successes as I go!
I spent a few days trying out the tip in practice before heading down to London to be filmed talking to Gok all about it!
Gok was absolutely lovely, he really is as warm and friendly as he comes across on TV. I couldn’t think of a better personality to promote a campaign supporting us women to feel good! He instantly made me feel at ease and I loved talking to him about the tip.
The day itself was certainly an experience I will never forget, I was treated to make up and styling and being able to look ‘behind the scenes’ at a film shoot was very interesting too!
It won’t be long until the video of me talking to Gok is released, and of course I’ll be sharing in here on KHGS so watch this space, I can’t wait to see it!
Can you think of a situation in your life where you can break down a big goal into mini goals? How would you celebrate those small achievements?
