This week has been all about getting back into the groove of things after my holiday. I think you are always super busy catching up with things after a break, I feel like I’ve hardly stopped this week! As I was saying in my WIAW post, I’ve been getting back to my usual food and exercise and that has felt great. I also haven’t had any coffee since Saturday and only one green tea a day. I started the week feeling like a zombie, but now I’m feeling much better. I am missing it like crazy though, generally I drink coffee because I enjoy the taste and ritual of it rather than the caffeine hit. As I drank a lot on holiday, I’ve naturally felt the need to cut back, as well as looking to reduce it ready for next weeks raw till 4 plan.

Well, a herbal brew at least!

When we got home last Friday I bought a big organic chicken to roast. I’d been craving chicken and vegetables and that is exactly what I had!

I’ve been making the most delicious marinated grilled vegetables, I’ll have to share the recipe and method soon! I had them again with some roast cauliflower and a baked pork loin:

The other meal I’ve really been loving is green smoothies. I’ve had one each day this week and I’ve been loading them up with super foods:

All pretty similar, either spinach or kale with banana, berries or apple, cucumber, almond milk, protein powder, 4 green super foods powders, my seeds for seed cycling, maca, a royal jelly shot I’ve been sent to review, extra ice and then coconut, cacao nibs, coconut butter crumbles, bee pollen and chopped nuts for topping!

I’ve also loved my salads:

This was lettuce, cucumber, tinned salmon, red pepper, olives, sun dried tomatoes in oil and some balsamic. Well lush.

I’ve been having eggs in various guises for breakie:

Fried eggs with bacon, fried eggs with sweet potato and scrambled eggs with a berry smoothie on the side. I really missed my eggs while I was away!

Yesterday I was doing some recipe testing in preparation for this weekend’s healthy cooking demo:

I think that qualifies as food porn, eh? This was amazing, a grain and refined sugar free microwave chocolate cake. With peanut butter. It reminded me of those Heinz sponge puddings you get in the tins but much, much, better and healthier!

  • Tuesday –  Level 1 of Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown via YouTube
  • Wednesday – Gym – 10 mins cross trainer // lunges + push ups // 10 mins step machine // leg rolls on stability ball + single arm rows // 10 mins bike // sit ups on stability ball + shoulder and arm combo move
  • Thursday –  Level 1 of Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown via YouTube
  • Friday – Gym – 10 mins cross trainer // wide stance squats + chest flye // 10 mins step machine // single leg deadlifts + dumbbell pullovers // 10 mins bike // weighed sit ups + bicycle crunches + upright rows

This week I’ve really just enjoyed getting back into a good workout groove. I’ve been alternating some light cardio with strength moves at the gym. For the strength element I do 10 reps of each exercise repeated for 3 sets alternating each exercise. It’s just an easy way to get in both cardio and strength in the time I have. I’ve also really enjoyed the yoga and I’m determined to keep it up twice a week at least.
