10 workouts under 10 minutes

As I’ve been mentioning in my Eat, Move, Wear, Love, Link weekly round up posts, I’ve had a distinct lack of ‘move’ recently. Of course having a baby is a pretty decent excuse for not hitting the gym, but now that Finley is almost 3 months old and we have had his heart surgery out the way I feel it’s time to refocus on it. For me, working out is not about burning calories it’s about changing my body shape, making me feel fit and strong, and more recently, to give me an endorphin feel good hormone boost.

Time is really hard to find when you have a new born, but perhaps it’s having a busy job or lots going on in life that is your challenge. These 10 minute workouts require either no or minimal equipment so can be done fairly easily anywhere. 10 minutes might not sound like a lot, but when it’s all the time you have it’s better than nothing and can actually be quite effective, especially if it enables you to fit in a couple of workouts in the day, for example morning and evening. You could also do a couple of workouts back to back, for example a cardio focused workout and a toning workout for more complete exercise. If you do have a little more time then check out my 30 workouts under 30 minutes post.

I’m a fan of Erin Stutland, her five minute workout is fun and easy to fit in. I am doing C25K aswell and enjoying it. Great ideas!

I love Blogilates and Tone It Up for fun and effective workouts. I find just getting 10 mins in makes a world of difference to how I feel – thanks for the new recommendations Laura!

I love short bursts of exercise – I have a pull up bar in the house so I can do a few reps in the day as I am by into spending hours running or at the gym. I also love pop Pilates work out on you tube – I did a 15 mins one the other and sure felt the burn the next day!

I always try and fit in 10-15mins of exercise in the morning before I go to work as I find it really wakes me up first thing. I shall keep these in mind ready to jazz up my routine now I’m back at school again.

Most of my workouts take 30-40 minutes or less these days, I used to love working out for and hour or more but these days I like it short and sweet!

If I had a spare ten minutes I would go on a quick walk- the fresh air is the best part of exercise for me.
I am terrible at home workouts as I get so distracted by things that need doing, so I am much better to be either outside, or at a gym class, but I can see why these short workouts are so good.
