Well I have to admit this week hasn’t been the easiest for me. It’s been stress city, especially when I worked on an online application for work for 2 hours which decided it wouldn’t save so I lost all my work. I was ready to chuck my computer out the window! I guess sometimes we just have those weeks. But I’m not one for being negative or dwelling on things, and the end of the week has actually perked up considerably!

I did take some time out yesterday morning to visit the farm shop – I’m loving my organic veggies again and this purple kale is just so beautiful! I also got a couple of squash, cucumbers, cauliflower, chard, apples, broccoli, sweet potatoes, lettuce and free range eggs from their hens. Good stuff!

Work outs this week have super:

  • Saturday – REST
  • Sunday – 30 minutes cardio on cross trainer, step machine, bike, Kettlecise class
  • Monday – 5 min warm up on cross trainer, new strength training workout 1, 10 min HIIT on bike
  • Tuesday – 30 minutes cardio on cross trainer, step machine, bike, Body Pump class
  • Wednesday – MTV Power Yoga DVD
  • Thursday – 10 min warm up on cross trainer, new strength training workout 2 10 min HIIT on bike
  • Friday – REST

I still need to post up the details of my new strength training plan which I’ve been loving. I did make a decision this week not to go to my hot yoga class. Time is just so tight for me and with the travel to Newcastle for the class its a whole evening out of my week which I just can’t manage at the moment. Add the dark nights and the cost and it’s just not going to work for me right now. I’m really sad about it – they need to start a class in Durham! Instead I did MTV Power Yoga which was fab and I think I’ll restart my Yogaglo subscription so I can practice more at home again.

I guess the biggest thing for me this week food wise was this:

I decided to try some fish. I’ve been talking about how I want to experiment with my diet again as I reassess at my food choices, and after adding in eggs and dairy, fish seemed like the next one to try. I have to admit it feels liberating not to have a label on my diet anymore. At this point I’m not sure how much more fish or meat I may eat, but I do think it is going to be a part of my diet again, probably in very small amounts now and again, but who knows? I’m just going with the flow right now and seeing where I end up. I’ve loads more to say on this, and I’m writing up another wordy update post which I’ll hopefully share next week cause I know how much you all love them ;-)

Other particularly delicious things this week have included:PicMonkey Collage

  • Salad with basil tofu, olives and green goddess dressing
  • Harissa spiced chickpeas and courgettes with tahini lemon sauce on top of steamed kale
  • Fresh figs, tahini and honey
  • Leek, Greens and White Bean Soup with home made raw juice pulp crackers
  • Scrambled eggs with avocado and an orange
  • Toasted sunflower and chia seed bread with honey, avocado, sea salt and bee pollen along with a pear
  • Smoothie made with purple kale, frozen cherries, Jarrow chocolate brown rice protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, almond extract and cacao powder
  • Figs with chocolate protein pudding (just Sun warrior mixed up with almond milk)
  • Amazing breakfast – pumpkin scramble made with two eggs, 1/3 can of pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, sea salt and topped with almond butter

The toast with honey and avocado and the pumpkin scramble were utterly delicious!

I’ve been lusting after this necklace from my wonderful sponsors Lazy Giraffe for some time now and I finally ordered it! Also…

Amazing Skype chats with fellow IIN students Nathalie and Hiba – and getting some excellent feedback on my health coaching skills! // getting closer to the final designs for the new KHGS header and logo and designs for the new business // positive meetings around my community work stuff // getting more financially organised // being able to be positive!

In case you are catching up:

In other news I was very excited to have KHGS featured as one of the best fitness blogs on Manfrotto alongside blogs such as the amazing Spikes and Heels! Check it out – there’s some other awesome blogs on there too.

So as you may have guessed I am rather pleased the weekend is here after the week I’ve had! At the moment I’m not sure what I will be doing apart from visiting my friend, I think that having very little set plans is wonderful and just what I’m needing right now.

What do you have planned for the weekend? I’m thinking a Thai green curry for dinner followed by a bath with candles, raw chocolate and a pot of herbal chai tea. Rock and roll I know ;-) How do you recover after an especially tough week? How do you turn a bad week into a good one?
