It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas around here :-) I’ve spent the weekend being particularly Christmassy and it has been wonderful. Yesterday morning we were up very early so we could go to town for breakfast before the shops opened:
OOTD: fake fur scarf: New Look, Army style jacket: c/o Next, cream wool jumper: New Look, tan leather cross body bag: Mango, floral tea dress: Tesco Florence and Fred, grey marl tights: H&M, brown boots: New Look
I decided to have a ‘treat’ breakfast:
We went to our usual haunt, Olive and Bean where I had a large gingerbread latte and a pain au chocolat, yum yum!
We had a good look around the shops and the Christmas Market. I have quite a few good ideas for gifts now. I did get a couple of little things for myself:
I saw the cinnamon cakes shower gel Jessica’s Blog and knew it would be something I’d love so I was straight after it!
After shopping we went to see my parents and nephews and helped them put their Christmas tree up. My nephews are seriously adorable, there’s nothing like seeing Christmas though a child’s eyes :-)
Then we came home and put our tree up!
The last few years we have had a tiny cheap little tree, and now that we have decorated and have space I finally have a big one! I love it and can’t wait to get some presents under it!
Other than that its been a pretty chilled weekend, I’ve been listening to Christmas music while getting caught up on things, quick trip to the gym this morning for my usual spin and kettlebell class, slumming it in my sweat pants and baking!
This morning I tried out a new recipe. I was afraid it had failed, but I kept on going and it actually worked very well. I can’t wait to share the recipe for these fermented grain date and walnut scones:
I had a couple with a berry vanilla protein smoothie for breakfast after the gym:
And another couple of smaller ones unpictured ;-) They are so delicious, the texture is amazing for something that’s made with wholegrain flour, and they contain no refined sugar either. Recipe coming soon!
Other yummy food from this weekend includes a big salad with lettuce, cucumber, beetroot, 1/2 avocado and hummus mixed with water and harissa paste to make a dressing…
…roast kabocha and full fat coconut milk…
…and cauliflower roasted with coconut oil, with stir fried kale and sprouts with soy sauce and a chopped beef, beetroot and horseradish sausage:
That sausage was fabulous! Another purchase from my local farm shop.
What a lovely weekend! How has your weekend been? Are you starting to feel Christmassy yet? I love listening to Christmas songs to get me in the mood, my favourites are John Lennon: Happy Christmas War is Over, The Waitresses: Christmas Wrapping and Paul McCartney: Wonderful Christmas time. But I could probably go on and on, I also love it when bands cover old Christmas songs and I’m looking out for playlists on 8tracks. What are your favourite Christmas songs?
