We have been so blessed with the weather this weekend…
That was Brighton beach on Saturday, it was glorious!
You know how some people talk about the 80/20 rule? That you should aim to eat healthily 80% of the time and the have treats 20% of the time?
While I’ve been in Brighton I think I’ve been living that rule in reverse ;-) If you can’t enjoy yourself when you are on holiday then when can you eh? In my defence I did have better intentions but as we have been going from gig to gig and having some late nights I’ve been eating and drinking whatever has been available to keep me going, including a vast amount of coffee:
I have still been loving the cold brew coffee from The Small Batch Coffee Company, and as a treat I had a Mocha Frappe with whipped cream to enjoy while we sat on the beach:
I discovered a place that sells peanut butter and nutella flavoured froyo:
My ideal froyo flavours, although I do still prefer the plain version from Lick.
We’ve had treat breakfasts…
…and enjoyed food from vendors at gigs:
This was a halloumi cone – deep fried halloumi cheese in a wrap with salad topped with some chilli sauce.
There has also been plenty of pear cider, beer and red wine!
On the healthier side (and to save a bit of money rather than eating out all the time) I’ve had chicken salads:
These gorgeous lentil chips dipped in hummus:
Plus some much needed fresh juice – this was a 5-a-day blend with a detox booster. Much needed I can tell you!
I also had this amazing raw chocolate brownie with sea salt…
…recommended to me by my blogger bestie Tamzin!
It was so lovely to see her as always! I just wish we had longer to chat and that we lived closer to each other :-)
So basically we have been having an absolute blast, wondering around town, eating, drinking and seeing some great music as part of The Great Escape festival. We’ve discovered some great bands and even met a few musicians. It’s been fab, and what is even better is that we still have a few more days here, I have a couple more blogger dates lined up and my cousin is coming down from London as well. Good times!
I think these last few days have served as a great reminder to me that sometimes going out, living life and enjoying yourself in the short term is better for you than worrying about the lack of veggies you’ve eaten. I am craving veggies, but I know that the last few days have been about a lot more than food, and sometimes that is nice. I know that my ‘default’ is eating healthy and I’ll be back to that again in no time. I could kill for a green smoothie though ;-)
