Behind the Scenes of my Coaching Business January – June 2025

Business

Welcome back to another Behind the Scenes post where I share an update on what’s been going on in my business and life, in this post, since the start of 2025.

I enjoy sharing these posts as they serve as being fairly cathartic for me, but I do also hope that they are also useful for you too.

Business Updates

So far 2025 has been a truly wonderful year in my business.

I have seen some conversations that for other business owners 2025 has been a bit of an odd one so far, but I have to admit that hasn’t been the case for me and I must be doing something right to be bucking that trend.

My income goal for the past couple of years has been to pass £70K (a lot less than the multiple 6 figure coaches – I know!) and I haven’t really come very close to that before, however at the half way point of 2025, I already have £55K in income either already come in, or cashflowed out as committed income so I feel really confident that I will hit my target this year.

Alongside creating my weekly show, which has been helpful in attracting 1:1 Mentoring clients, I haven’t had too many big things going on which is a nice contrast to last year which felt a little too full on.

I launched Wholehearted Business®, my 12 month signature group program again in March which was great and had 8 people sign up. I really enjoyed the launch process as I usually do so that was really good fun.

Around the same time I stopped posting on Instagram which gave me some much needed headspace and the opportunity to focus more on my weekly show.

I also decided to trademark Wholehearted Business® – this was something I had wanted to do for ages but the process seemed overwhelming so I kept putting it off. However, when I finally just did it, it was a lot simpler than I had thought and I’m really happy that I have now secured this for my business.

Another thing I had been putting off doing for a long time was some kind of collaborative event. Again, I had some big blocks around doing this, but when I saw that Michelle Ponvert was offering some 1:1 calls to help map out a low lift audio based event I jumped at the chance to finally do an event.

Search and Connect was brilliant, but also a massive learning curve! The timing also coincided with some stuff happening in my personal life which made it even tricker to manage. But I am really happy with the outcome of the event and very grateful to the speakers who helped me make it happen.

That event preceded my most recent launch for The Searchable Show Method, which also went really well with all 10 spots for the live beta round sold out.

All in all, the first half of 2025 in Wholeheartedly Laura has been one of the best 6 months I’ve had and I’m excited for that to continue!

Life stuff

So while everything in my business has been really positive, my personal life has been really rather challenging at times and the last year has been one of the hardest I’ve experienced.

My son Finley who is almost 11 has just been diagnosed with epilepsy. He had a seizure out of the blue in October and a second in May – anyone who has witnessed a seizure or indeed experienced one will know how scary it is. It has brought some old trauma back to the surface from Finley’s medical issues as a baby and obviously it’s very worrying in itself.

Thankfully, it seems that Finley’s epilepsy isn’t too severe and so far his new medication is working and being well tolerated so I’m hoping that is going to continue.

Alongside that, I’m experiencing another huge life event in that I’m separating from my husband and partner of the last 20 years.

I’m not yet ready to share more about this to respect my former partner, but there’s been no betrayal and we are fairly amicable. We have had to live together for a while and he is just about to move on.

These two things on their own would have been challenging enough, but together have been very very hard to manage.

It’s been an interesting learning experience navigating this as a coach and business owner and what I’ve communicated with clients and at what time depending on how I’m being impacted. I’ve tried to lead and model a way of managing it all and communicating things too, and I do feel like I’ve found a good balance.

Although those two things have been tricky, there’s been a lot of really lovely things too. I discovered, late to the party again, A Court of Thorns and Roses books by Sarah J Maas which have really carried me through this hard time. I’ve also continued to enjoy wild swimming and paddle boarding as hobbies that light me up and bring me a lot of joy!

Future Plans

Looking ahead to the next half of 2025 I’m feeling really positive and excited about what’s to come. I have the summer holidays with my children where I’ll be working a little less so I can spend more time with them. Then in September I’ll be opening Wholehearted Business® again and I’m hoping to find a creative and unusual way to launch it this year.

After that I’ll be focusing on implementation and systems. As my business has grown there’s some upgrades and improvements I’d like to make to help me manage things going forward in a more sustainable way.

I hope, as always, that this behind the scenes sneak peek has been interesting – do let me know in the comments below how 2025 has been for you so far!
