Stylish work space

Happy Sunday! If you’re in the UK I hope you aren’t missing that hour we’ve lost too much this morning. I could have done with the extra hour sleep to be honest! Happy Mothers Day to all the lovely Mums out there (and Mums to be too of course!) I’ve had a busy but productive week with many hours spent at my desk pictured above. I’m actually glad that I have my desk in the living room, even if we did have a spare room I don’t think I’d want to have it some where separate anyway as having it like this means James and I can both be working on things but still together in the same room which is nice.

Eat

I’ve had a nice mix of healthy foods with a few treats this week, my favourite meals including…

Berry porridge with coyocustard porridge made with jumbo oats and mixed berries topped with coyo coconut yoghurt

Sweet potato porridge with nut butterSweet potato porridge with a dollop of home made macadamia almond butter

Sweet potato pancakes with tahinisweet potato pancakes with tahini

Strawberries and blueberries with coyostrawberries and blueberries with coyo

Scrambled egg strawberries and almond buttertwo eggs scrambled in ghee with strawberries and almond butter

Mackerel beetroot saladtinned mackerel in olive oil with beetroot, peppers, spinach and balsamic

Brown rice noodles with gammon and greenshoney soy glazed gammon with brown rice noodles and spring greens

Sweet potato and kale hash with fried eggsweet potato and kale hash topped with a fried egg

Mint choc chip green smoothiemint choc chip green smoothie

Blueberry froyo with cacao nibs and coconutfrozen blueberries blended with pouring yoghurt topped with coconut and cacao nibs

On Friday I was rushing about between meetings but it was so cold and wet I just needed soup! I ended up in Cafe Nero with some of their tomato and basil soup which was delicious, and a pepper mint tea to go:

Treat of the week has to be this caramel sea salt dark chocolate Lindt, yum!

For my community session on Friday I made a double batch of wholemeal carrot, date and walnut muffins:

The recipe is on my Facebook page and will also be in the Uniquely Healthy Newsletter due out next week!

Move

Gym wear pregnant

Workouts this week

  • Monday: Rest
  • Tuesday: Rest
  • Wednesday: Gym – 20 minutes cardio on cross trainer and step machine, 20 mins strength training
  • Thursday: 30 minute pregnancy yoga workout from YogaGlo
  • Friday: Rest
  • Saturday: Gym – 20 minutes cardio on cross trainer and step machine, 20 mins strength training
  • Sunday: 30 minute pregnancy power yoga from Kristen McGee App

At the start of the week I got some new workout wear! The grey pants are loose fitting at the waist from Primark and the pink vest is just a plain cheap vest from Sainsbury’s. I teamed it up with a fine fabric loose fitting black vest I bought ages ago from H&M. I feel so much better working out in clothing that fits better and looks more flattering. I haven’t gone to spin today because I’m making lunch for my Mam for Mothers Day, but generally I’m thinking about leaving my Sunday spin class and just focusing on the gym, yoga and walking. Plus I really feel like I need my Sunday morning chill time!

Wear

Black jeggings and denim shirt outfitdenim shirt: New Look, scarf: Vero Moda, black jeggings: Primark, brown boots: New Look

Stripy top jeans and army jacket outfitArmy jacket: Next, scarf: Vero Moda, stripy top: New Look Maternity via eBay, jeans: Mango, boots: Primark, bag: Oasis

I am having trouser issues now, nothing will do up! I found a pair of black linen pants from Tu at Sainsbury’s which have a stretchy drawstring waist that should do me for a while along with jeggings, but I think my actual jeans have seen their last wear in a while! Definitely thinking the time has come to get some maternity jeans.

Love

Healthy grocery shop

On Friday I did an epically massive grocery shop. I just love it when I have a full fridge and cupboards! I really stocked up on healthy foods and my current obsessions including coconut oil, strawberries, coconut water, coconut milk, ginger tea and mint tea. I also got more avocados and mint to make my mint choc chip smoothie! Pizza, bread and strawberry yoghurts are James treats, halloumi is mine! Also…

One of the ladies in my community session commenting on how fit and flexible I am as a pregnant woman! // cuppa and catch up with one of my best friends Kate // great first session with my young people’s healthy cooking group // kicking my to do lists ass // the first gay marriages, so sweet to see this guys getting hitched, not before time! // the memory tapes on BBC radio 6 which where a selection of songs a friend has chosen to play for his friend who had been deaf and was hearing music for the first time, I sobbed!

Love how your eats are the epitome of good nourishment and always vibrant with color! You’ve had a lovely, productive week :) . Oh and is spin not considered high-intensity for pregnancy?
I too feel absolutely terrific after a good stock-up of my fave foods! Right now..some must haves are: bananas, Honeycrisp(!) apples, yogurt, butternut/sweet potato, greens..
Oh goodness I am loving coconut oil. I started stirring a spoon to my oatmeal,(remember my skeptism!) , and you’re right – it adds in a lovely dimension of flavor and texture :D.

Thanks :-) Well with spin you can usually go at your own pace so I was going quite light anyway, but it’s actually my position on the bike that feels weird, plus I worry I might topple off! Coconut oil is the BOMB! Best stuff ever, glad you are enjoying it!

Fab eats and outfits as always!! <3 And I love your little desk space..I can't wait to have my own when I move out of my student place in summer..I hope mine is as cosy as yours! :)

Nice grocery haul…currently obsessed with greek yogurt with frozen blueberries (this has been ongoing for many months now…still addicted!), canteloupe melons, and the chot shot chocolate sauce which I use as oats/yogurt topping as opposed to a hot chocolate. Oh and corn cakes..getting through those rather quickly these days ha!

Sounds like you have an exciting week ahead! Quite jealous of your London trip..I must go down there in the summer..I have a froyo and Wholefoods splurge craving ;)

Thanks Nicky, I have to say I love that little corner of our flat! Oh you’ve made me want to buy more chot shot, they should really re market it as a chocolate sauce instead of the hot chocolate thing! Corn cakes are so good aren’t they :-) and you’ve just reminded me I need to make time for some froyo when I’m in London!

I had such a lovely day yesterday with Ben’s mum and my mum. We had afternoon tea (of course ;) and just enjoyed a nice relaxing afternoon.
That BBC music thing sounds lovely. I saw a clip of a woman hearing sounds for the first time on BBC news after getting cochlear implants and it was amazing.

Losing an hour on Sunday really confused me. My Garmin was showing the old time when I woke up but after I’d gotten back from my run it had updated itself without me realising! Cue much panic and rushing later on in the day to get back to my Mum’s!
We always have a ‘treat’ from shipping trips as well. Usually chicken tikka sticks to tuck into on the way home!
