Today (or around about now as some of my first posts have gone missing when I moved from Blogger to WordPress) the blog is 4 years old! I can not believe I’ve been blogging for 4 years. It’s quite scary that 4 years of my life has been shared and documented on the internet. When I first started writing KHGS it was just a place for me to talk about what I was eating to help me maintain my weight loss. 4 years on and it’s grown into something I could have never, ever dreamed of. It’s quite literally changed my life. As with everything, there is always a less great aspect to it, but I can honestly say that overall blogging has had a huge positive impact on my life. I’ve also met some amazing women, Tamzin, Maria, Jessica, Nicky, Christina, Emma, Lucie, Lara, Grace, Dannii and Philippa to name only a few.

I’ve shared all my ups and downs with you, and here are a few of my favourite posts:

Personal

Healthy Living

On a Budget

  • All my posts here, and there’s a good few of them!

Beauty

Fashion

Fitness

Proud moments

Fun stuff

Recipes

In reflecting on my time blogging I’ve seen some big differences in the whole healthy living world. 4 years ago you would have struggled to find almond milk in a health food shop. The fact that you can find it at most supermarkets now is just one sign that people are becoming more open to healthy food and alternatives to the norm. It’s also great to see so many thriving businesses in the healthy living arena too. The changes in myself have been massive as well – not just physically but mentally. I know that some of you have been with me since the start, and others have read back through my archives so you will know what I mean. At times I have thought about deleting some past posts because I am ashamed of how stupid I was to under eat and over exercise. But those are the experiences that make me, me. As I’ve said a few times before, I don’t regret going though that, because the Laura that has come though the other side is way stronger than the Laura that started this blog.

So a huge, heart felt thank you to every single one of you that reads, especially those of you that comment or email me. I hope that you will all join me for the next chapter of KHGS and my life!

Happy birthday, KHGS! I’ve loved following your journey and reading your blog over the last few years – how time flies! I started blogging in October 2009, never thought I’d keep it up this long or enjoy it so much but definitely agree that the best is yet to come! x

My bloglife is 4 years old in March, albeit I’m on a new blog, but my old one is still well loved and well read! I feel like I’ve been here the whole time with you, Laura!

I’m going to be tapping into your green smoothie knowledge now that I’ve bought myself a Vitamix, so thanks for the link to the smoothie recipes in this post! Perfect timing!

Never delete anything, every word is important because it’s real, honest and you learned so much from your own thoughts.

    Here’s to another 4 years! x

Happy 4th blogging Birthday Laura :) I’ve been reading since December of 2010, and I can definitely see how much you’ve grown and evolved over time as a blogger, but also having had the great experience of meeting you I can also discern huge development has a person.

I definitely don’t think you need to delete the posts you aren’t as proud of: honestly those posts are still a whole lot better of an example than the vast majority of blogs out there with authors still claiming they are ‘healthy.’ You were doing what you thought was best at the time, and from a selfish perspective I still enjoyed reading your blog very much back then.

I’ve been blogging for six years (eek). I’ve deleted several blogs along the way though, so only have archives going back to May 2010. I don’t know that I have a proudest blogging moment! I’ve always regretted making the blog too personal and not professional enough – to an extent I wish I’d been…not less truthful, but more selective about the details I chose to write about. I also wish I’d become more tech-savvy and worked out how to monetize my blog at the very beginning of when this type of thing was starting to become popular!

Thanks Jess! it’s scary that some other bloggers are worse than what I was back then. I was doing what I thought was best and you live and learn eh. Congrats on 6 years in the blogging world!

Happy birthday to your blog Laura! You’ve done so well over the past 4 years and should feel really proud :-) I blogged about my wedding for two years in 2010-2012, then started my new food blog now in Jan 2014. I’m having trouble with formatting at the mo., i’m clueless about things that are essentail and would love to make it more graphically appealing. I’ve got ideas but no idea how to go about making it real. Perhaps i can pick your brain a bit when we meet up soon? Please! :-) I’ve enjoyed reading your blog over the years. You’ve been a source of inspiration for me. Keep up the good work! x

Happy 4th blogiversary!! I loved reading up on some of your ‘body’ posts there, especially as I’m trying to recover while making peace with my body.. every bit of reassurance helps :) . I just started blogging – it’s on a very small scale, mainly to serve as an outlet for my roller coaster healing process.

Such a beautiful post and you are right, we are who we are today because of what we have done to get here. And as much as I would love to go whip my insecure 16 year old self into another direction it would also mean I wouldn’t be here and the me I am today.
Happy Blog Birthday may the journey continue xx

Wow Laura! Happy blogiversary first of all! It’s not the length of time you’ve been blogging that’s impressive but the huge amount you’ve achieved in this time. So so much has happened, and, like you say, the ups and downs have all contributed to who you are today. Sharing your story must have helped so many along the way and you’re truly a wonderful advocate for healthy living.
It is certainly exciting to see the changes taking place in the UK in terms of awareness and education about a healthy lifestyle. I’m excited to see what’s to come.
I’ve only been blogging for 6 months so far but it’s been a wonderful experience and already life-changing.

Happy Blogiversary! Have loved following your journey over the last few years. I think you are so right about all the experiences whether good or bad making us who we are. If we never made mistakes, we couldn’t move on and learn from though, so I think it’s good to remember and reflect on bad times just as much as the good.

Happy blogging birthday! :-) I’ve only been reading for about six months or so but love how honest and down to earth all of your posts are.
I’m coming up to a year of blogging now and find it so lovely to look back on posts. I don’t think you should delete any old posts. They do make you, you and you being ashamed of them now shows how and why you can learn from your mistakes. I’ve been in a similar position with a couple of mine. At twenty years old and at university I truly thought I knew everything there was to know about myself and my body but by talking to others online and reading blogs and experimenting with my lifestyle over the past few years I’ve realised that I’m still a long way off that, but it’s nice to look back to where I’ve come from.

Happy Blogversary! What a lovely post to be able to look back on all your proud moments. I think you are right to not delete posts either- those experiences have all contributed to make you what you are today. I remember when you changed it from keeping slim to keeping healthy and I thought that was such a great change.
I just looked back at my blog and I started it in April 2010, so mine will be 4 years old soon! Crazy! But I am so glad I started mine- although I wish I had started it right when I first started running. Although I have just found an old post of mine where I am pondering signing up for a marathon- I didn’t realise I was considering it from that early on!
