Blueberry avocado smoothie

Hello my lovelies, I hope you are having a great weekend and a wonderful summer solstice! Happy Fathers Day to any Dadas too! My week has been good, but weekend so far has been tough. You know I’m happy to keep it real, yesterday I was in a total funk and actually let myself get quite down in the dumps. I think a teething non sleeping baby had something to do with it! Thankfully I pulled myself out of it, but for a while I was wishing I could just stay in bed! As I said, that aside, it’s been a good week with a few up’s and downs. The highlight was a day out with my Mam, Aunt and Fin, where I treated myself to a new smoothie cup as pictured above (from New Look), and ate cake…

With having family visiting this weeks been a little more indulgent than I’d like, the sugar is certainly creeping up which isn’t helping with my ability to handle the rough nights we’ve been having with Finley recently. Definitely a need to refocus next week, although I will say that cake and the other treats I’ve had were damn worth it!

Move

Post run

  • Monday – 5k run
  • Tuesday – Rest
  • Wednesday – Rest / walking round the shops
  • Thursday – 15 minute morning yoga
  • Friday – 3 x Davina 7 minute fit workouts
  • Saturday – Rest
  • Sunday – 4 miles – edited to add – DONE!

So last Sunday’s run didn’t happen as planned. I am a fair weather runner, no way I am going to do something I dislike anyway, in the rain and wind to. Thankfully Monday morning was perfect for running and I ticked off a good 5k on my training plan. Tomorrow I need to do 4 miles (edited to add – done and done, with only one little walk break whoop!) and really next week I need to start running more often as well. I didn’t make my usual Metafit as I was out and about on Wednesday, then on Friday Finley napped longer than usual so I decided to let him sleep and did a few Davina workouts back to back instead.

Wear

New look leggings

When I was out mid week I picked up some new leggings, these funky ones from New Look. They fit really well and feel nice and comfortable so will be great for yoga or Metafit.

Love

Magic carpet yoga mat

My new yoga mat! I’ve been eyeing up these Magic Carpet Yoga Mats for ages and a combination of some surprise extra funds and a gift card for Urban Outfitters made me decide to get one. It is a beaut! Yes these babies are mega pricey, but they are a work of art. Also…

Getting Finley’s cardiac check up rescheduled // being hugely productive on Thursday // my peonies blooming // writing my newsletter this week! // buying Finley a cute new outfit // healthy mini cheesecakes (recipe coming!) // chatting with Kezia on Skype // celebrating summer solstice with flowers around the flat and some meditation

I love that smoothie cup and yoga mat! I am definitely a fair weather runner too – somehow managed to train for the marathon with only one rainy run! x

Sorry to hear you have been in a funk ma lady. Keeping it real is awesome though as we are not 100% rainbows and unicorns in this life all the time. As I was saying to Pip earlier, I had a nice little hormonal melt down over getting dressed this morning as everything made me look “fat” – us bloody women ;) . It happens to all of us, positive pollies or not!
I love both the leggings and the mat – so funky!
That smoothie looks amazing and the cupcake even better. Cake is the best.

Thanks Maria! I have to say I was so proud of myself for that run, I’m getting there! We had planned to do parkrun this Saturday but we had a shocking night with Finley and I just couldn’t face it!

I think I could quite happily spend my day watching milk swirl into iced coffee… Isn’t it just the prettiest thing ever?
Hope this week picks up for you, my running’s been slacking too what with being away and now I’m bloody ill. No way I’m going to tackle a long run when having hot flushes before even starting!!

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling a bit pants :-( but on the plus side your food looks awesome. And I LOVE the yoga pants!! They’re so lovely, go New Look! They need to do more fitness gear. Seriously lacking affordable cool fitness outfits in the market.
My family and friends tend to pick me up when I’m down…otherwise cake always helps!
