Micro Actions to help you and your coaching business thrive through the rest of 2025

Business

If you’ve been feeling like 2025 has been a tough year, you’re not alone! Whether it’s your coaching business or personal life, plenty of people have been finding the energetics of 2025 challenging to navigate.

As we round out the year, I wanted to share a little of my perspective on the energy of this year, and some small actions and grounding habits and anchors to help you end the year thriving, and not just surviving.

This blog post has been inspired by this Reel from @kateforsterwrites which I deeply resonated with, and I feel like it nicely summarises how many of us have been feeling.

Basically the message of that Reel is that 2025 is not a year for thriving – and that the energetics of this year are more like being in a liminal space or waiting room, and that it’s ok if you’ve been finding it hard to move forward.

For me, 2025 has actually been one of my best years ever in business. My coaching work has flourished, I’m very close to hitting my £70k annual goal, which feels amazing. But personally, it’s been hard. My son’s epilepsy diagnosis and my separation have obviously been extremely personally challenging.

Whether your challenges have been in business, life, or both, you might have felt like you’re dragging yourself uphill – pushing, trying, but not quite getting the traction you want. I wanted to write this to remind you: it’s not just you.

As the Reel I liked to above mentioned, the collective “energetic weather,” as I like to call it, has been… intense. If you’re into astrology or human design, you might have noticed that 2025 has been described as a year of endings and completions – a nine year in numerology, which is all about wrapping things up and preparing for the next cycle.

It’s like the universe has been asking us to pause, reflect, and integrate before moving forward – which can be frustrating when we want to be making big moves.

So while I don’t think we should all give up on 2025 and any goals we’ve set for ourselves, I feel like we can move forward tenderly with small actions to help us make progress and stay grounded as we end out this year.

Here’s a few micro actions to help you move your coaching business forward, if you’ve been finding this year challenging, and some grounding anchors to help you stay present.

Tell People What You Do

The first micro action is beautifully simple: tell people what you do.

If you’re a coach, say so. When you meet someone new, mention that you’re a coach and share a little bit about your work. It might feel slightly out of your comfort zone at first, but it’s one of the easiest and most effective ways to attract clients.

Word of mouth is powerful and it starts with people simply knowing what you do.

You don’t need a perfectly crafted elevator pitch, just have a few different versions of how you describe your work, depending on who you’re speaking to. For example, lately I’ve been dipping my toe into the dating world. When I meet people there, I keep my explanation super simple – I’ll say something like, “I’m a coach and mentor for online business owners.”

I don’t launch into the full story about offers and mindset, pricing, messaging, marketing and all the things I do – including my interests in astrology, energetics, or even about my podcast or YouTube channel – that would be a lot for someone outside the industry to take in! But I’m still owning my identity as a coach and talking about what I do.

And that’s the key – stay in touch with your self-concept as a coach and business owner. When things feel tough, we can easily lose connection with that part of ourselves. Speaking it out loud helps you stay anchored in your role and keeps your business energy active, even when things feel a bit stagnant.

Recognise Your Journey as Valuable Lived Experience

If you are having a bit of a shit time of it – first of all – I see you and I’m sending you all the healing vibes in the world. But also, it’s sometimes the hard times that make us the most outstanding coaches.

I don’t believe that you have to have experienced a hard time to be a good coach. However, many of us coaches are attracted to this work because we have that deep, multi factored experience of life in all it’s wonder and beauty and grief and sorrow.

I’ve really come to embrace the messiness of life over the last few years. To be human is to show up for every level of experience including the joy and the pain, the ease and the discomfort. It’s not always pretty, and it’s rarely convenient, but it’s real.

As Glennon Doyle writes in Untamed, being human means allowing ourselves to experience the full spectrum of emotion even the parts we’d rather skip.

When my son was diagnosed with epilepsy, I was terrified. I wanted to fix everything, make it all okay. But beneath the fear, I had this quiet realisation: this too is part of being alive. I can’t bypass it. I can only be present with it – with the fear, the worry, and the love that underpins it all.

And that presence has changed how I show up in the best possible way. Not everything needs to be ‘fixed’ and often we just need to be able to be present through the discomfort. But perhaps recognising that even this is going to positively contribute to your business as a coach can be a comforting thought.

Just Coach

Another simple yet often overlooked micro action is to just coach.

It might sound obvious, but sometimes the most effective thing you can do to move your business forward is to be a coach, in whatever circumstances you can do it.

Now, depending on where you’re at in your business, this might look a little different. If you’re just starting out and you don’t have many (or any) paying clients yet, it can be easy to slip into that mindset of “I’m not really a coach yet” or “My business isn’t real because I’m not making money.”

But here’s the truth: you become a coach by coaching.

When you tell people what you do (like we talked about earlier) and you sense a natural fit, don’t be afraid to offer them a session. It doesn’t have to be a big, formal thing – it could simply be a free 30-minute conversation where you support someone through something they’re struggling with.

Every coaching session you do reinforces your self-identity as a coach. It reminds you why you started this work in the first place.

And when life or business feels sticky, showing up in service can be an incredibly powerful energy shift. It takes you out of your head and back into your heart.

Of course, the key thing here is to check in with how it feels. If offering coaching starts to feel resentful or depleting, that’s a red flag to pause and protect your energy. But if it feels good – if it feels like a genuine act of service – it can be one of the best ways to reconnect with your purpose and momentum.

Mindset: Trust the Outcome

Here’s another micro action, though this one is more about mindset than doing.

Ask yourself: if you knew with absolute certainty that your coaching business would succeed, that all your goals for the next two or three years would be achieved, how would you show up?
What would you be doing right now? What energy would you bring to your work?

This isn’t about sitting back and expecting miracles, you still need to take action. But shifting into the mindset that things will work out can loosen the knots of pressure and attachment we often tie ourselves in.

When we’re stressed or feeling stuck, it’s easy to think: “This has to work. I need this to succeed now.” That pressure can be paralysing. But what if you flipped the script? What if you trusted, fully, that your efforts would pay off in time?

For me, leaning into this mindset has been incredibly freeing. It helps me focus on showing up in the way I want to, consistently and authentically, without the constant stress of needing immediate results. It’s about meeting the universe halfway: take action, yes, but do it from a place of calm, confidence, and trust.

Micro Anchors to Stay Grounded and Connected in Your Business

Finally, let’s talk about micro anchors, those small rituals or practices that keep you connected to yourself and your coaching business, even when life feels heavy.

These don’t need to be big or complicated. The goal is to create tiny touchpoints that remind you of your purpose and help you stay grounded.

Some examples include:

  • Listening to resources you love: If this podcast or YouTube channel resonates with you, make it a weekly habit to tune in. Learning and connecting with content that inspires you can become a little anchor in your business week. And yes I’d very much suggest making my podcast and YouTube channel one that you connect with!
  • Morning rituals: Before you dive into work, take a few minutes to centre yourself. Brew a favourite coffee or tea, sit quietly, and jot down anything churning in your mind before starting your coaching sessions.
  • Voice note journaling: Instead of writing affirmations or scripting your ideal life, try voice-noting them. Speak out loud what you want your life and business to look like. It’s a quick, simple way to anchor your intentions.
  • Setting the scene: Light a candle, play a certain playlist, or create a small workspace ritual that signals the start of work. These little cues can make a big difference in how you show up.
  • Connecting with nature: Step outside, even for a few minutes. Look at the sky, the trees, or feel the air on your skin. Nature is one of the simplest ways to ground yourself.

The key is to find the small actions that feel good to you. These micro anchors don’t just support your productivity, they keep you present, connected, and grounded, no matter what the rest of the world throws at you.

Next Steps:

As you end out 2025 in the next couple of months, reflect on this:

  • What small micro actions can you take now to feel steady and present in your coaching business?
  • What micro anchors will keep you connected to yourself and your work?
  • How can you show up in alignment with your goals, without forcing or stressing yourself?

I hope this post has offered some fresh perspectives and actionable ideas for moving forward. Let me know in the comments if you’re going to try any of these actions.
