‘How do you fit it all in?’ This is a question I’m often asked as someone who runs a business, is a Mum to two kids and who also has various other time commitments and things going on.
So in this episode of the show is a behind the scenes look at a typical week in my life and how my days tend to be structured. While I’m definitely no productivity guru, I often find these more realistic looks at how people manage their time helpful and I’m hoping that a look at what this looks like for me is going to also be helpful for you in some way!

So just to set the scene before we jump into looking at what a typical week looks like. Obviously I am a business mentor and coach, I am also a Mum to two children, Finley who is 10 and Freya who is 5. Both are in school between 9am and 3.15pm five days a week. I do use a tea club facility a couple of times a week and I take off all of the school holidays. I also have many other extra commitments such as being the secretary of the school PTA and I also have a commitment to myself to engage in activities that support my self care and wellbeing. Plus running a household!
I am married, and my husband is pretty good at helping out with keeping the kids entertained and jobs around the house too. He works full time.
So it is quite a lot to fit in each week! I tend to work around 20-25 hours a week on my business.
Here’s a glimpse into what that looks like – if you would like to see more on the go Behind The Scenes then do follow me over on Instagram as I share a lot of this on my stories.
Planning my week on a Sunday
I try to take at least 30 minutes on a Sunday to plan out the following week. I use my Notion Home Page (check out my Notion Planning Templates for something similar) to plan out what tasks I work on each week.
I refer back to my Mini Season Plan to inform some of the tasks each week, alongside regular ongoing tasks that need to be done every day like checking emails, Voxer messages etc.
I also look at my Google Calendar and what is scheduled in, so when I’m assigning to-do’s to each day, I’m not trying to do too much and making a smart use of my time. I’ll also add my workouts to my Google Calendar.
I also create a meal plan on a Sunday and generally spend some time doing house work / laundry etc.
Mondays
I try to start off Mondays with as much intention as I can manage! I get up early at about 5.30 and workout at home. I used to go to the gym early but it just feels a bit too hard in the winter so I do some exercise at home after my first coffee of the day.
Then it’s shower, kids up, breakfasts and the school run.
Once I’m home, it’s into my usual Monday work tasks. I have some specific Monday tasks that I tend to do in the morning including promoting / sharing and optimising The Wholehearted Business Show.
Monday afternoons I might record some videos, create some content, write emails, set up ads etc, usually something that is a fairly chunky task, or it may be responding to some client queries.
I’ll often also spend some time working from my local Starbucks on a Monday if I feel like I need a change of scenery or to focus a bit better.
Then I collect the kids from school, come home and do a quick turnaround before taking them for their weekly swimming lesson.
After that it’s back home for dinner (or tea as we say in North East England!) and then the bedtime routine starts. I’m not a night owl so I will often be in bed by 9 not long after the kids are settled.
Tuesdays & Wednesday – Client Facing Days
I get up around 6.30am the rest of the week after I’ve done that first early morning on a Monday. The usual morning routine and school run follows.
Then Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the days I try to schedule any client sessions or meetings. I’m not rigid about this, but trying to stick to this really helps me be more productive on Mondays and Thursdays.
I’ll often have some calls in for my group program Wholehearted Business and other client sessions or discovery calls etc sometimes 3-5 calls a day. If I do have a slot of time I will schedule in some smaller to-dos but often I try to leave Tuesdays and Wednesdays free of any big tasks.
On a Tuesday, my parents help out and collect my kids from school so I tend to work until about 4ish on a Tuesday and then on a Wednesday I go to the gym at around 2.30 or 3pm and I have the kids in tea club.
I’ve found that late afternoon is a sweet spot for me in terms of working out at the gym, it’s quieter, and works well with my energy levels.
Then the evenings are all pretty much the same routine of making tea, bathing kids and getting them to bed.
Thursdays
I try to keep Thursdays free from client calls or meetings if possible, so that I can focus on chunkier tasks. I’ll often record and edit episodes of The Wholehearted Business Show, or work on something that is business ‘building’, rather than just business ‘running’ such as setting up paid ads, working on collaborations or developing new products to sell.
I also go to the gym on Thursday afternoons same as Wednesdays and have the kids in tea club.
Non Committed Work Day Fridays
I try and view Fridays as ‘non committed work days’ by which I mean, if I want to take the whole day off I do, if I want to go to the gym in the morning and work in the afternoon then I will, or if I need to pick up slack from the rest of the week I’ll do that too.
I love having that flexibility to do Fridays however I fancy! Sometimes I’ll meet a friend for lunch or coffee which is really lovely too.
Weekends
Weekends vary greatly depending on what we have going on. Right now we seem to be in a season of kids birthday parties so I often find myself taking Freya to a number of those. Sometimes we have a very quiet weekend at home and watch movies with blankets. I’ll often go to a weekend yoga class, go for a wild swim and I generally try and fit in a 5K run on a weekend too. Often we’ll specifically plan in a family day out where we all do something together like a trip to the Beach or a Play Park.
If I’ve spent time during the week on more personal activities like going for a swim or meeting friends for a coffee, then I might make up a bit of time at the weekend doing some work, but I do try and limit that if I can.
We have a dedicated home office at home – we had our garage converted in 2023, and that means that if I do need to do a bit of work while the kids are around, I can do that out of the way of distractions.
As I mentioned earlier, I do try to make Sundays my main laundry and cleaning / house keeping day when I can too, but I am not a clean freak and I tend to not spend any more time on cleaning that is necessary.
Flexibility and Freedom
The overarching theme for me in how I manage my weeks is flexibility and freedom and creating my own structures that allow me to enjoy that while also maximising my own productivity.
Something I have had to come to terms with business wise is that I do actively ‘leave money on the table’ when I choose to go meet a friend for coffee or go for a mid week swim. No doubt my business would grow further if I was spending that time on business tasks, but for me, I’d rather have a life I love, and a business I love, than chasing more profit at the expense of doing other things that bring me joy.
So there we have it, that is pretty much what most of my ‘normal’ weeks look like. I’d love to know if this has been helpful at all, do let me know and if you’d like to see more of what I get up to in my day to day life then come follow me on Instagram!
