Last week I shared a recipe for delicious chewy chai spiced porridge made using Rebel Kitchen Chai Milk. For today’s recipe I decided to use the matcha milk. Matcha is a finely ground pure green tea. It is extremely high in antioxidants and has been said to have metabolism boosting properties. It also has a very distinctive flavour which I love. I started adding matcha powder to smoothies right back when I first started blogging so its great to see that it’s an ingredient that is now being used in more products.
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’ll know I have a thing for green smoothies. They were one of the recipes / meals that I tried when I was cleaning up my diet that made me realise how delicious healthy food really can be.
Generally my green smoothies include some kind of fruit, but here I decided to make a fruit free version for anyone looking for a lower sugar option. I found that the matcha milk gives the smoothie enough sweetness on it’s own. If you’d prefer something sweeter, just add a banana.
This smoothie would make a fabulous breakfast to start your day, or a more filling snack.

Feel free to add other ingredients to this such as a scoop of plain or vanilla protein powder, fruit for added sweetness or other greens powder such as spirulina for an added boost.
Have you tried matcha green tea before?
Simple but delicious. I love green smoothies too and adding the matcha flavour is a great idea :)
Thanks Lauren, matcha is such a great addition!
I’ve never tried matcha green tea before but I’m pretty sure it’s something I’ll like ;-P and I really need to find these Rebel products!
If you like green tea as it is I’m sure you’d love matcha!
I love the colour of this. It just looks so healthy!
Thanks Dannii, green food always makes me feel super healthy!
I liked the Teapigs matcha when I tried it. I have a carton of the rebel kitchen matcha in my fridge but I have not tried it yet.
Hope you like it when you give it a try :-)
