It has been the most glorious weekend! The weather yesterday was beautiful, I enjoyed being barefoot on the grass in my parents back garden, I love being barefoot outside! It’s been such an indulgent week for me, to be honest I am done with sugar and treats for a while now. As well as an amazing dark chocolate Easter egg I had a brownie during the week, hot cross buns, mini eggs and then some of these deletable delights…
Eat
On Saturday afternoon my parents watched Finley and James and I popped out for a little date to Newcastle. We had a quick look around the shops, got coffee and headed to the Boiler Shop Steamer pop up food and music event. After filling our tummies we went for a walk down to the Quayside and back to where we had parked the car then got back to my parents early so we could chill, it was fab!
Move
- Monday – 10 minute kettle bell routine
- Tuesday – 10 minute yoga routine
- Wednesday – Rest
- Thursday – 15 minute run
- Friday – Rest
- Saturday – 1 hour walk around Newcastle
- Sunday – brief run around Saltwell Park with James
So I’ve been running! Not very far, and pretty slow, but it’s a start and I’m happy with that! I loved having a very brief run around the lake and gardens at Saltwell Park yesterday morning, it was so quiet and beautiful. On Monday I needed to be sorted and out of the house for a meeting so instead of the gym, or doing nothing, I did a quick 10 minute kettle bell routine which was great!
Wear
I totally forgot to get a decent full length pic of what I wore over the weekend, but heres a snap shot. Loving the nice spring weather and being able to wear my kimono jackets again!
Love
I vlogged! I haven’t vlogged in forever, but I was inspired to do so by my friend Emma from The Freelance Lifestyle, and now that I know how to vlog the lazy way (i.e. using Google Hangout) I think I’ll do it more often! I really enjoyed recording this video where I chat about self talk, some of the ‘stories’ we get stuck in and how these effect our health and wellbeing. I’ll be vlogging once a week in April so subscribe to me on You Tube for more random ramblings. Also…
Going to baby cafe // figuring out how to use the Ergo carrier for Finley properly // Finley getting some lovely Easter gifts // James Dad’s new German Shepard puppy Koshi // siting outside in the sun in what feels like the first time in forever // making some great progress with projects // my final session with one of my community groups and getting some wonderful feedback // new bedding

So as I said I am over the treats now. Pass the green smoothies and salads please. Honestly I feel like crap, these last few days have been a reminder of how much sugar and caffeine my body can take at the moment. As much as I’m not feeling my best, I don’t feel guilty and I’m pleased that my bodies balance system is kicking in as it should. I love that my body tells me when enough is enough, something it didn’t used to be able to do when that kind of eating was common place.
Have you had a good Easter weekend? What did you get up to? What is your favourite Easter indulgence?
Exciting about the running! Little by little is what is needed too.
You have had gorgeous weather- here we have had wind and cloud and some rain, although it is brighter today. We had a walk yesterday under black storm clouds!
I did finally make a simnel cake and we had a slice yesterday after tea, and we have had toasted hot cross buns for a couple of days for breakfast, but nothing out of the ordinary- we tend to go away at Easter so it is a bit strange being home. I think Montezuma’s peanut butter mini eggs are the best thing ever- worth hunting them down!
That carrot cake looks delicious- especially with the cream cheese icing.
I hope you had better weather on Monday, I’m hoping this sun shine lasts! I wish I’d known about those peanut butter mini eggs, I’ll have to try and hunt them down next year!
Seems like you’ve been luckier with the weather than the south has! Today is promised to be nice though! That crustless quiche looks so good – definitely something I need to try. I didn’t have any Easter treats this weekend as just didn’t feel like it but did have a Creme Egg last week and it was actually a bit of a disappointment – it didn’t really taste of anything! x
Hope the weather improved for you! I’ve thought that with creme eggs too, I’m sure they used to taste nicer!
Loved, loved watching your blog. Great topics discussed and brilliant advice. Look forward to hearing more vlogs :)
Thanks Lauren, glad that you enjoyed it!
This weekend has been amazing hasn’t it?! The weather is still lovely (at least it is in the south west) and it’s bliss having another day off. As someone who works weekends, it was a luxury having at least Sunday off.
I love that feeling once you’ve indulged a bit much and you start craving leafy greens and salads and lighter, nutritious foods. It can be such good motivation sometimes and usually the indulgence is what your body needed to get you back on track. I received a Prestat dark chocolate egg with sea salted caramel truffles – basically me all over!
I haven’t had the time to tuck in yet, I was full most of yesterday after cooking a lovely roast.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing your vlogs throughout April!
She’s So Lucy
Glad you had some time off! Oh wow that egg sounds like heaven!
Laura!! So nice to be back on the wagon again – it’s been several months since I’ve actually made time to catch up on all your new adventures over a cuppa. Where has the time gone?? So lovely to see your family blossom and I can’t wait to fullt catch up on all the interesting articles x
Hi Joy, lovely to hear from you! Hope you enjoy my recent ramblings :-)
So true about your body telling you when you’ve eaten enough of the ‘bad’ stuff. I have had a lot of wheat these last few days and I definitely feel foggier and less able to focus. It’s been nice but like you, I am back on the green smoothies! I have noticed I’ve crept more fruit into my smoothies as well and need to cut this back again. Just bought a big bag of kale so that’s a start! Easter is a tricky time to avoid sugar but it’s great to be aware of how much we’re eating and then cut back after the festivities!
Lx
Easter is so hard to avoid sugar! Thank heavens for green smoothies to rebalance :-)
Aww sounds like you’ve had such a lovely Easter! And the weather has definitely helped make it even more amazing, please stay!!! But yeah, I think a period of indulgence can definitely make you feel a bit shitty even if you do enjoy it at the time and don’t regret it…definitely all about balance! Those cakes do look amazing though!
My Easter weekend has been so nice, I’ve been seeing lots of friends for lots of coffee and food which is always lovely. I got some Easter eggs so made sure to have some yesterday as it was Easter after all! Though I do tend to eat chocolate everyday anyway because I’m a bit of a chocoholic ;P
And I’m SO glad you’re back to vlogging! I love your chats, you always make so much sense :)
Happy Easter lovely <3 xxx
I know I’m so hoping this weather stays a bit longer! Glad you had a nice weekend too and enjoyed some chocolate!
I also had a little bit too many treats this Easter but I’ve been quite active with spin class on Saturday and a good bike ride on Easter Sunday. I think I burnt everything off!
Good for you! Actually I need to remember that at least I wasn’t sedentary the whole weekend either, I think that helps!
It certainly does! :-)
I always forget about your accent. It’s lovely! You sound like Cheryl Cole (or whatever her name is now!) Great vlog. It is ridiculous how awful we can treat ourselves and yet we’d never say awful things about our friends. Or if someone gives us a compliment you straight away flap it away and don’t accept it. But we should embrace these compliments and own them!
I had the most tasty slice of simnel cake. I’ve never had it before but it was divine! A bit like Christmas cake without the icing. Yum.
Ooh thank you! I know she’s got another surname now doesn’t she! You know I don’t think I’ve ever tried simnel cake before it sounds very tasty!
I was so feeling this after a few weeks of holiday- where are the smoothies and salads ha! Felt much better after a little mini reboot.
Ha, I’m just the same after a break, you never get as much veggies when you are eating out!
I am loving the weather! Now we have a garden it feels so indulgent to go outside barefoot and feel the grass between my toes!
A baby cafe sounds like too much cuteness!
Oh I bet that is awesome, I can’t wait until we have a proper garden!
