Greggs balanced choice salads

Being from the North East, I’ve pretty much grown up with Greggs which grace almost every high street up here, and now, you can find them all over the UK. In the past, I think it’s fair to say that they weren’t the healthiest option around. Their cheese pasties got me through many a hangover and I have to admit their cheese savoury stotties bread sandwiches are my not-so-guilty pleasure!

Understanding the needs of modern customers, they’ve created a new range called Balanced Choice in which all options are under 400 calories. Included in that range are four delicious salads which I have to say, I was really surprised by how good they were!

The range includes:

Honey Roast Ham and Free Range Egg Salad

Chargrill Chicken Salad

Teriyaki Chicken Noodle Salad

Falafel and Houmous Salad

As well as various sandwiches, flatbreads, yoghurt pots, fruit pots and drinks.

All of the products I’ve tried from the range so far are really tasty and filling. It’s wonderful that a healthier lunch option is now available on most high streets. I know I would have loved these a few years back when my office was based on the high street of a small town with Greggs as the only quick food option.

Obviously the salads are perfect for this time of year if you’re looking for a fresher, lighter option for lunch. My favourite salad had to be the Falafel and Houmous Salad with the Teriyaki Chicken as a close second, both are so full of flavour and make a perfect lunch choice. They are also reasonably priced.

In the past I wouldn’t have considered Greggs as an every day option for finding a healthier lunch, but now it’s probably one of the first places I’d go to.

Have you tried any of the Greggs Balanced Choice options? Does seeing that they offer healthier options make you more likely to try Greggs for lunch?

I love that places like this are getting on board with more healthy options. I’m not a big sandwich or pastie fan, but salads I am all over so this sounds great to me!

I think it is great that places are offering a wider range of options. I have never liked pies or pasties so I don’t think I would ever think of going to a Greggs as I would not think they would do anything I liked.
