What is a Signature Coaching Program?
A signature coaching program is a program that is delivered using an underlying system, framework or method that is unique to you as a coach, and which stands out as your specific way of helping people experience a transformation.
It’s all about your individual approach to how you coach people – when you create a ‘signature’ program, this is really about you putting your stamp on the way that you work.
A signature coaching program brings together all of your knowledge, experience and skills – as well as weaving in elements such as your values and what you stand for, as a unique experience for your clients in helping them overcome challenges or reach their goals.
How does a Signature Coaching Program differ from a regular Coaching Program?
Unlike a standard coaching program, a signature coaching program has a well-defined, step-by-step methodology. It’s about putting your personal stamp on the process and saying, “This is my unique way of helping people achieve their goals and transformations.” Essentially, you create a system that reflects your unique approach and values as a coach. A regular coaching program is more loosely defined.
Why Do You Need a Signature Coaching Program as a Health or a Life Coach?
Developing a signature method or framework and then creating a coaching program to deliver that can be helpful for health and life coaches in a number of ways.
Stand Out from the Crowd
When you create a signature coaching program that is uniquely yours it can really help you stand out from other coaches and helps you differentiate your way of working and your approach to solving challenges and creating results from other people.
Build Trust
Having a clear and systematised way of working allows potential clients to understand and trust your process. It removes much of the vagueness from coaching, making it easier for clients to see how they’ll achieve their goals with your help.
Demonstrate Expertise
A signature program demonstrates that you know your stuff. It shows that you’ve developed and refined a unique system based on your experience and expertise, making you appear more credible to potential clients.
Charge more for your programs
As you’re better able to communicate the benefits and outcomes of coaching when you have a signature approach it can be easier to sell more coaching packages and potentially charge more for your services because the process is so clear.
Save Time and Streamline
Having a signature programme can save you time and streamline your processes. Knowing that you’ll guide your clients through a standard method makes you more efficient and confident and allows you to automate parts of your business more easily.
Scale Your Business
A significant advantage is that a signature approach enables scaling, particularly with group programs. With a common pathway for clients, you can better manage group sessions or online courses, helping more people simultaneously.
Step by Step Guide to Creating a Signature Coaching Offer
1. Just Coach
The first step is to coach people. This might seem obvious, but it’s essential to start with a more general coaching package. This isn’t to say that it’s a completely generic coaching package – it should be based on your niche and messaging foundations. Use it to work with clients and see what works and what doesn’t. Pay attention to common patterns and challenges your clients face. This firsthand experience is crucial before defining your unique methodology.
2. Put Together Your Method or Framework
Once you’ve gained experience, start looking for commonalities among your clients. Refine your initial coaching package by identifying the common starting and end points for your clients. Develop a detailed framework that guides them through a specific transformation.
Think about:
– The initial challenges they face.
– The desired outcome.
– The step-by-step process to get there.
– The ways that you want to weave your values and what you stand for into that process
3. Test It Out
Next, test your framework. Take a few clients through your new method and see how they respond. Get feedback, make necessary tweaks, and ensure it delivers results. This step helps you make sure that your program – and the underlying method – actually works before fully launching it. It can also help build your confidence in how you deliver it.
4. Sell It
Once you’ve got a signature coaching method put together, if you haven’t already now’s the time to create a sales page for it. You should find that creating sales copy for it is much easier than when you’re writing about a more generic package.
You can also name your signature program and method and even brand it specifically to help sell it even more effectively.
Also make sure you don’t forget to look at your actual sales process as a specific area of your business that needs some intentionality behind it. What is the process for converting leads into paying clients?
5. Scale It
Once you’ve successfully run your program with individual clients on a 1:1 basis, you have the option to scale to group programs and even online courses. Remember that you need the volume of people in your audience to make scaling work, but with a well tested signature method or framework you can be confident that your approach is going to get results for the right clients.
Next Steps
If you’d like to check out an example of a signature framework, I talk through my own Wholehearted Business framework here that has six key areas of business and how I approach and interlink each one.
Ultimately, creating a signature coaching program is all about you putting your own stamp on the way you work – it’s looking for the unique ways in which you bring together concepts, resources, tools and actions that help your clients create a transformation in their lives.
