Are you a goal setter? I most certainly am, and probably a chronic goal setter if I’m honest. However I do get a lot of shit done and I really do thank my goal setting personality for that!
Did you know that the most successful people are the ones that set goals and actually write them down? Only around 10% of the population set goals and write them somewhere, so that simple act can really have a massive impact.
Goal setting is a bit of an art, one I had believed I’d perfected until I stumbled into a really simple twist on my usual goal setting routine that has ensured my are actually achievable, feel more doable and ultimately much more likely to happen!
I thought I’d hop on to YouTube to talk you through this really simple process…
To sum up:
Instead of writing down your goals like this:
♥ Go to the gym 3 times a week
♥ Write 4 blog posts
♥ Sort out my immune system
♥ Lose 4lbs
Write them down like this:
♥ I have gone to the gym 3 times a week
♥ I have written 4 blog posts, one each week
♥ I haven’t been ill this month and I have more energy
♥ I’ve lost 4lbs
It’s a subtle but very effective difference. Start by asking yourself this question, for example if you set monthly goals:
‘How will I know this month has been a success?’
By adding in the ‘I have’ you completely change your relationship to the goal. From a manifesting and energy view point, ‘I have’ is a powerful statement in ‘acting as if’. Not only that, but just writing them in that way makes the outcomes more relatable and helps you to really judge if the goals you’ve set yourself are actually doable.
I set all my monthly goals using my monthly tracking sheet which is free in my VIP area, just sign up here for access.
Do you set yourself goals? How do you usually word them? Do you feel they are realistic?
Love this – it definitely is a great check for whether a goal is realistic. I’ve been doing it for a while in a sort of working backwards way – so if I want to run 10k in less than an hour I’ll figure out how I’ll actually do that rather than just wishing for it or thinking that I’ll maybe just be lucky! x
Working backwards is always a great way to approach goals, makes you realise what you’re letting yourself in for!
It’s so good to have some of your news by video. I was really into this post. I have been in some kind of a rut recently and it’s so nice to learn about a different way to see things! x
